We have pledged $10,000 to sponsor four orphaned children in a remote South African village.
While on a photo safari (with Idube Photo Safaris) we visited the Madikwe Game Preserve and had one of the most memorable experiences in our lives. While there, we also visited a local children’s school in Molatedi, South Africa. Molatedi is located in the extreme northwest section of South Africa near the border of Botswana. The area is very remote and the community here struggles with extreme poverty and lack of basic essentials and medical care. While visiting the local school, we heard the story of several very young orphan children. This small community rallied around these small children and help where they can with local teachers bringing a little extra food in the morning to provide them with what is sometimes their own meal of the day. Members of the community help even though their own supplies and provisions are sparse and hard to come by. We teamed up with a local benefactor in the village who is creating a trust fund and once it has been set up and secure we place $10,000 in the trust account specifically to provide for all of the needs of the children as they grow up including food, clothing, medical needs and also education supplies and costs.
Most of the children that we met that day also have never had a portrait taken of them, nor do they have any photos of themselves. So while visiting them, Jerry took the time to photograph each and every child we met, printed a photo and then sent it to them so they would all own a professional photograph of themselves.
